To disable the RAB simply go into reverse and click the "RAB" in the bottom left of the console display for 3-5 seconds. That will disable the system until you do the same to re-activate it.

The other issue is on occasion when we put the Forester in reverse, the light on the info screen for the rear braking doesn't come on, and the dash actually says "RAB Disabled". It doesn't go away until the car is driven for a bit or turned off. Putting it back into park the into reverse again, etc doesn't fix it. The dealer claims it had no codes.

Jan 28, 2018 · Once the RAB is triggered or disabled, it will stay disabled on the screen. If the system was triggered normally (brakes kicked in) then when you put it in drive, the system should reset. If is disabled in drive, it means the RAB has malfunctioned. Turning the ignition off/on will clear that and it should work then.
