I don't have any of the earlier remasters of Superfly but judging from the Rhino remasters of other Mayfield albums I think I'd personally prefer the MFSL. Everyone in the thread you linked is happy with the improvements on the MFSL.

The Pure Pleasure reissue of Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus (Candid 9005) claims to be stereo on the disc label (no info on the front or back cover), but they seem to have used the better sounding mono tapes. The regular Candid CD reissue is stereo but sounds very muffled, while the long OOP Mosaic CD set of Mingus' Candid …I've never had a problem with a CD beyond repackaging (i.e., jewel case vs. digipak, etc. or slipcases not being included). Sure many times the royalities are smaller BUT they are usually released after retail (at least the ones that you can get inexpensively and they tend to focus on catalog releases much more so which is fine by me.
