The ferry takes you from the Port Bolivar on the Bolivar Peninsular to Galveston Island. You do not need a car to ride the ferry but without it there is nothing to see. In fact even with a car there is very little to see in or around Port Bolivar. Once on Galveston Island there are things to see and do, but you will need a car to get around.
