MesserMan. 510 posts · Joined 2008. #28 · Dec 5, 2018. There is no such thing as a poor man's Busse. What makes a Busse special is not the design or the "exclusivity"... it's the steel. You can copy every aspect of a Busse, make a perfect replica, but if it's not INFI, it's not even close.

When I got the e-mail for this thread, I came here hoping to find this particular blade in the Comp finish. However, I wasn't too upset. 1) I kind of expected it and 2) both are probably my favorite finishes. My most-used Busse's are a coupla' Hell Razor 2s. One is a Comp-finish and the other a stone-washed.

I do think that Busse is probably testing out Magnacut as we speak at different hardnesses to find the optimal desired performance they want from their blades. Rest assured whatever steel comes out new or old steel will just keep improving.
The new battle grade offerings are Busse classics reborn in SR-101. So far they have released the Active Duty and AMS in the size range you are looking for. Busse, Swamprat and Scrapyard knives are all the same company. Knives are made by CNC machinery in batches, so any specific model is only available for a short time and then generally never again. There is a cult like following of their buyers. I have a few and they are good, but I am not sure they are worth the money.
