832 posts · Joined 2006. #10 · Jul 5, 2007. No, the kfx90 is a Kymco. The kfx80 was a Suzuki. The new kfx90 is a four stroke. Kawasaki is no longer in bed with Suzuki so they do not sell the kfx80 or 50 anymore. Well they do still sell a 50 but it is also a Kymco four stroke. It's completely stock.

Welcome! Compression for these engines is only in the 50-75 psi range, due to it having an automatic compression release to make it start easier. It shouldn't be able to start with only 15 and 23 psi. That being said, it's very common for the intake valves to go tight on these engines, and the result is low compression.

It takes a while. But once it is running for a while and you kill it, it starts right up again. As long as the motor is hot.

It didn't come with the owners manual or shop manual (need to get that) and I have a question about the fuel shut-off. There are three positions left, right and down (probably off, on, and reserve). This problem could be caused by a faulty ignition system or a clogged carburetor. Once the cltuch nut is off, remove the front cover and sheave together. remove the spacer. reinstall the front sheave and the nut.
