LOTS of cutting and fitting but maybe it's an easier fit in a Ranger. The exhaust is pretty simple - just a pipe out of the engine bay. The first section of the Mercedes pipe will make the exhaust work easier. Any radiator for a 5.0/Ranger swap should handle the cooling. High EGT on a diesel is a result of too little air not too much. Actually it's from too much air+fuel combined, and/or high intake air temps (no intercooler and/or excessive boost pressure). Restrict the airflow alone and you lose power, the excess fuel cools the charge, you get smoke and EGT's shouldn't be high. # 13.

I think you can get a brand new 3.3 for under $4000. I am in the middle of a Mercedes 5cyl turbo diesel swap. Not as much power but for me it was priced right at $100.

The OM617 is a shorter stroke motor than the 4bt. Think of an OM617 as a diesel that performs like a gas engine.
