The violence in Ghost in the Shell 2017 is more intense than the Marvel/Avengers-type movies. It's also darker, with little humor to lighten things up. The skin suit worn by the Major has a plot purpose, and was tastefully done. Overall the movie is pretty decent--if you don't go in with expectations from the anime. The twists are predictable, and the revelations obvious from the earliest of Major's interactions with Dr. Ouelet. But there's plenty of Johansson kicking and fighting and being fierce, and that's never a bad thing.
