If you can though don't use the warp hypercore from the milestone reward as you'll need it later. I made this same mistake but managed to get a pilot rescue mission that awarded a hypercore. Look for a planet that has activated copper and wait for a storm. You'll find plenty of storm crystals.

Also look for planets that have activated metals. So, since you are finding yellow stars look for planets that have activates copper. Go to your catalog, go to raw materials, activated copper, select it, locate substance.
