When you compare sports medicine to diabetic foot conditions, general trauma, orthopedics, ect; it is just not a major part for most foot and ankle physicians (pod or ortho).The VA recently changed the salaries that they pay podiatrists (same for all VA hospitals), and salaries improved dramatically (low 100k to 200k-300k range). If podiatry was in a downward spiral like pharmacy, this would not have happened.
