DDLC as a whole is retconned to be a game within a game. No longer are we a visual novel player horrified as the game glitches out, we're just a bored office employee doing his job. This ruins immersion and is bad. Probably the biggest complaint I see about Plus on here. And it's untrue because DDLC was always a simulation within a simulation. Monika's AI/consciousness is made self-aware in Libitina, moves itself into DDLC. She makes contact with one of the people running the simulation, uploads herself into that person and is now free, while that person is now trapped inside the simulations, as it's implied that person's personality has completely changed. Fairly sure those are just stock assets that come with Renpy (the engine the original DDLC uses). Placeholders for missing sprites or as u/stuart98 said "Stock assets" what came with RenPy.
