Professors are allowed to fail students, and several per year at other vet schools are either held back to repeat a year or drop out all together.

1. Nov 24, 2010. #7. I believe Ohio requires a minimum of 80 hours, but the average number of hours that their applicants had last year was 1736 hrs (Veterinary) and 2387 hrs (animal experience). I personally am no where's near that number of animal experience hours, despite living on a farm my entire life working with cows, horses, chickens, etc.

The years within a program there's some wiggle room, but I wouldn't call you a college freshman if you hadn't yet started college either. But I don't particularly care what your SDN status says. Yes, the vet school does take mainly in-state students, after all it is a state school, but if your grades are good and you are in-state you have a chance no matter what school you went to. The idea that UF grads are given preference because UF is a more highly ranked school is not true at all.So my message to all you pre-vets out there and curent 1st-3rd year vet students reading this, is to keep on keepin' on because it's totally worth the sacrifice at the end!
