Long story short, my watch was completely destroyed. I called Asurion and they had a new watch at my door the next day. The deductible may seem high (mine was $150) but it’s a helluva lot cheaper than outright replacing a $400 device. Except if you factor in the cost of the plan as well.

This recently happened to me when my wife lost her phone. Filed a claim and an hour later someone turned the phone in. Call asurion and let them know. They won't be able to cancel the claim, but you can refuse the delivery or do a return to sender. Once they receive the device back it will process. Took about 2 weeks but I got my money back.
