I say this for future readers, since the 2012 in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia appears to be a Gen8 and has options unlike the NA Gen8. First thing is to check your battery. Worked fine with the key button, but the button on the trunk lid would not work. Tried a number of times. Made an appointment to take it to the dealer, and then it started to work fine.
