Have ya seen how they add a few steps to the bottom stick with straps,.. holy cow that seems awesome,.. just caught a few videos on those mods,.. The guys first stick's top is 8 feet up,.. I was like that is freaking genius! Anyone with sticks can do that,.. D,.. I really like those Helium products,..The ropes are lighter and overall quieter. I do have the buckles on the straps covered with kayak grips but even just pulling the strap tight can cause a bit of noise on quiet days. The ropes also "slide" up and down on the tree easier once the stick is set so you can make a small adjustment here and there if necessary.That dual step really makes a difference 15-20 feet up trying to hang a stand. Hawk is a Michigan company as well. I will convert the sticks to use the same system the muddy sticks use, in time. The straps that come with the helium's are great for strapping the stick to the tree and stand. Lone wolfs are great, but only one step. I like the muddy sticks with the cam cleat system, but they are short sticks. Hawks are good, except for the strap fastening system. Its like each stick is missing one thing. Personally, I think the best stick would be the hawk with the cam cleat system, or the muddy if it was full sized.

I just bought a set of these the other day. I've decided against doing a rope mod for now and sticking with the cam buckle straps. I cut pieces of bicycle inner tube and pulled over the metal buckles. The pressure from the tube prevented the cam from holding so I cut a slits to allow the thumb toggle to fully extend and seat. it now works perfect.

I think my 1 Hawk Helium stick is around 21" and step space is about 18". I don't really use the top step much. When I get all the way on the top step and move the tether to max height I can't reach the stick.
